Questions for the Doctors

We maintain an advice line for calls during office hours. It begins at 8:30 am and is staffed until 5:00 pm. The number for advice and after hours calls is: 502-896-8868.

Our staff is equipped to help you with many frequently asked questions and routine advice. Complicated questions or issues will be referred to one of our physicians or nurse practitioners.

After hours calls are reserved for emergencies only. Our answering service forwards calls to pediatric trained nurses at Norton Children’s Hospital. These nurses can answer many of your questions, however please remember that they should be used for emergencies only.

Many insurance companies also maintain a bank of trained nurses to answer after hours calls. Please refer to your insurance card for phone numbers where one of their on staff associates can help you.

The doctors at East Louisville Pediatrics do not share calls with other pediatricians in town. If a question or concern is too complex for the on staff nurses, one of our physicians will be paged. We encourage you to call us first because many problems can be handled over the phone. Emergency rooms are usually expensive and time consuming and should be reserved for life threatening emergencies.

For after hours emergencies, we utilize Norton Children’s Hospital, Baptist Hospital East, and Norton Women and Children’s Hospital. For hospitalization, we utilize Norton Children’s Hospital.
